What is Track and Field?

Track and Field features training and competitions in the following event areas:

  • Sprints: 100M, 200M, 110/100M Hurdles, 300M Hurdles, 400M, 4x100 and 4x400 Relays

  • Distance: 800m, 1600M, 3200M and 4x800 Relays

  • Jumps: High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump· Pole Vault

  • Throws: Discus and Shot Put

What are competitions like?

We participate in weekday evening “dual” meets against 1 or 2 other teams, as well as large “invitationals”, usually on Saturdays against as many as 20 other teams. Some meets are JV, others Varsity only, and a few are mixed.

 

 

Order of Events

The typical order of events at track meets is as follows (although it varies somewhat):

1. 4x100 Relay

2. 1600M run

3. 400M Dash

4. 100M Dash

5. 100/110M Hurdles

6. 800M Run

7. 200M Run

8. 300M Hurdles

9. 3200M Run

10. 4x400 

Relay Post Season Competition

  • The girls and boys region meets are for varsity athletes only. We will take the top 2 competitors in each event to region competition.

  • The top 2 finishers in each event at the region meet will qualify for advancement to the Georgia State Championship.
